Natural-looking restorations for cavities and damaged teeth.
Pediatric white tooth-colored fillings at North Shore Smiles
Fillings are placed using single-tooth anesthesia (the Wand), so the numbing is precise and there's no widespread soft-tissue numbness lingering after the visit. Material — composite or glass ionomer — is chosen based on the tooth, the child's behavior, and how much decay is present.
What's included
- Composite or glass ionomer material, selected per case
- Isolite (preferred), rubber dam, or cotton-roll isolation depending on the area and what the child can tolerate
- Topical numbing first, then the Wand for single-tooth anesthesia — no lingering lip or cheek numbness
- How long any filling lasts depends on the child's diet and home care; sticky and hard candies are the most common reason a filling doesn't go the distance

Common questions
What parents ask about white tooth-colored fillings
Do baby teeth really need fillings?
Baby teeth help children chew, speak, and hold space for adult teeth, so treating decay can prevent pain and protect development.
Are tooth-colored fillings noticeable?
Composite fillings are designed to blend with the natural tooth color for a more natural-looking restoration.
